Description Stage 2
Departure from Residence “Riviera del Sole”, headquarters of âGiro della Siciliaâ. For the first 20 kilometers, we will ride on the SS113 national road with a mostly flat route and short steep sections, offering wide views of the sea. We will then face a long 19-kilometer climb on a provincial road that will take us to the starting point of the timed trial: on this very panoramic long climb, we will climb 850 meters in elevation, with fairly constant slopes and only a few short double-digit sections at the beginning. This long climb is interrupted, about halfway through, by two kilometers where the slope reverses, allowing us to catch our breath before tackling the second part.
At kilometer 39,20, the timed trial begins!!: it is 10 kilometers long and has an elevation gain of 465 meters with an average slope of 4.6%; it does not have any tough sections, and the finish line is at an altitude of 1.245 meters above sea level.
After finishing the timed trial, we continue without stopping, riding a long 8-kilometer false flat to the town of Floresta, where we will find a rich refreshment station and our bags with a change of clothes.
Subsequently, a long descent (first technical part with many curves, second part on long straight false flats) brings us back to the stage finish line (arrival at 14.00 approx.) where a final refreshment will be served.
